Our Story
How it started, and how it continues to grow.
How it started
AZ House was founded in 2016 in Jerusalem in response to a growing need for accessible, structured recovery within the Jewish community. Built on a proven model of community-based recovery, the goal was simple: create a place where individuals could step away from their environment, focus on change, and rebuild their lives with the support of others who understand the process.
Early Years
In the early years, AZ House operated with limited resources and little recognition. The model of a completely free program was often misunderstood, seen by some as a last resort rather than a high standard of care.
But the mission remained clear. There was a real need, and the belief was simple: recovery should be accessible to anyone willing to do the work. Despite the challenges, the focus stayed on building a program rooted in structure, accountability, and real results. Over time, that commitment spoke for itself, proving that high-quality recovery does not have to come at a cost.

Growth
As more lives were transformed, AZ House began to grow beyond its original foundation. What started as a single house has evolved into an expanding recovery network, reaching more individuals and communities.
This growth has been strongly supported by the Jewish community, families, alumni, and supporters who recognized the need and stood behind the mission. Their involvement, belief, and continued support have played a central role in building and sustaining what AZ House has become.
Today, AZ House continues to grow, bringing its model to new communities while staying grounded in its core values of structure, accountability, and accessible recovery.
